Dear Vinny,
I live in Montana, I have an underground creek showing on our property map. Can I legally dig down to make it an above-ground creek?

Dear Underground Creek,
Maps are often deceiving regarding creeks, especially if the map shows a stream, but it is most likely season runoff. I don’t think I would spend the money to try and dig it up because there most likely is no running water underground. But if you decide to invest in this project I would start with a small stretch to see if you can find any water.
