Dear Vinny,
I am currently exploring opportunities to invest in agricultural land for the first time. How do I determine soil quality and fertility? What due diligence is required for a novice to be confident they are investing in quality land and is this a crucial factor for making an informed decision in land investment?
Dear Soil Fertility,
The quality of your soil and yields will typically always depend on the area you are in. If soil quality and fertility are important to your investment, I recommend focusing on high-production areas in that location. Mother Nature can impact farming anytime, but local seed distributors can also do soil samples to give you a good idea of your soil health and advise on what crops thrive in your area. Good luck farming, and I hope you have a bumper crop.
