Dear Vinny,
I'm planning on purchasing land out West and moving from New England. The land here is filled with Lymes disease-carrying ticks. Do the states out West have the same issue or am I safe to walk around my property?

Dear Deet,
We do have ticks in the West, and Lymes disease can be a concern no matter what part of the country you are in. These fun little creatures are seasonal in the West; some years are worse than others, depending on the climate and weather patterns. It is always good to research the areas you are interested in purchasing for all types of things that could harm you or your pets. I have always found that talking with the locals and neighbors, if possible, is the best research you can do to understand potential threats in the immediate area.
Best of luck on your search.
